6TH - 12TH GRADE EDUCATION

Program Details

The secondary program at Heartland Christian School includes middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12). Our teachers are state certified. Our teachers are all devoted Christians that have felt God's calling and are dedicated to teaching our students from a Biblical worldview. Heartland offers a college preparatory program and approximately 87% of our students go on to college after high school.

Program Features

Biblically integrated curriculum

  • We teach a Bible class once a day and integrate God's Word into our classes.

Individualized academic programs

  • Students are able to take courses that meet their needs and abilities.

Independent study/post-secondary options

  • Through CCP (College Credit Plus) students can receive both high school and college credit.

Advanced Placement courses for college credit

  • AP English
  • AP Calculus

Foreign language program 

  • Spanish 
  • German

ACT and SAT scores above national and state averages

  • Students are encouraged to follow a testing program that prepares them for the ACT or SAT college enrollment tests.

A strong athletic program for both jr. high and high school, as a member of OHSAA including:

Mini-Term Details

Mini-term is a week of the academic year during which the students have unique educational, missions or service opportunities outside of the regular classroom. Opportunities include the following:

  • Extended field trip of historical significance
  • Extended science field trip
  • Short-term missions opportunity including a cross-cultural experience
  • Community service projects
  • Wilderness backpacking trip
  • Photography adventures
  • Sports-related activities
  • Local study of financing and life learning skills

We take learning outside the four walls of the traditional classroom. Students might find themselves digitally capturing God’s creation while:

  • Exploring the Finger Lakes
  • Experiencing a big city like Chicago, New York or Toronto
  • Hiking the Appalachian Trail
  • Investigating the majestic wonders of Niagara Falls
  • Ministering at a Guatemalan orphanage
  • Serving families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
  • Studying history while visiting places such as Boston, Gettysburg, or Washington, D.C.
  • Volunteering at an inner-city Christian school
