The goal of our Gifted Program is to enable students to excel in education by providing tools that will stimulate and motivate them to higher levels of thinking. We want to increase the students’ overall academic and intellectual strengths. In order to accomplish this, the Gifted Program is divided in to a group of second and third grade students and a group of fourth and fifth grade students. Students in these grades who show exceptional ability can be placed in the program for their area(s) of strength.
The first quarter of the year is focused on social studies, the second quarter of the year is focused on language arts, the third quarter of the year is focused on mathematics, and the fourth quarter of the year in focused on science. During their assigned quarter(s), the students meet with the gifted teacher twice a week for about 30 minutes each time. They work in collaborative groups, with a partner, or individually on open-ended projects. Through this process, it our goal that students will think outside of the box and be challenged to reach their full, God-given potential.
